Schematic / recommendations for external power source
I'm looking to power the Kerberossdr with an external 5v power source (other than USB cable) - possibly drilling a standard barrel type connector to source the power. It would be VERY helpful to have a general schematic to located these connection opportunities.
Anyone else tried this? Any recommendations?

My suggestion would be to use something like https://www.amazon.com/Converter-Regula ... 01&psc=1
barely can buy parts to build cheaper than that.... opening the case and playing with power can cost you a LOT more...
Other choice might be an old micro USB cable I cut - identify the power connections and then put whatever type of power adapter you want on the open end... 3.5mm .... molex .... But lots of inexpensive 5v 3amp choices out there!!

I was curious what I could do with the 40 pin connector as access to the 5vdc power connection , I have read very little about anyone using that installed interface... So If anyone has ideas.. It would be appreciated

Supposedly it's for interfacing directly with the RPi, but:
- You still need to power both devices separately
- You need to take the calibration board off to remove a jumper that does ???
- They didn't seem to communicate over that interface when I tried it

For the 40 PIN header only the 5V and GND pins are connected, and these match up with the pins on the Raspberry Pi (USB ports facing out). So in theory you can power the KerberosSDR and the Pi with a single 3A supply. But this probably won't be enough power since the Pi gets pretty power hungry when in high CPU processing.
But yeah you could use those 5V and GND pins to connect up to your own external power supply.

I purchased a kerberosSDR 2/15/21 from Hacker Warehouse.
THE ISSUE WAS - WHEN I ACTIVATED THE NOISE SOURCE THE SOFTWARE CRASHED
THE CAUSE WAS THAT THE MICRO USB FOR SUPPLEMENTAL POWER TO THE KSDR was DEFECTIVE
The FIX WAS TO provide 5V POWER THRU THE GPIO HEADER on PINS 2+ 6 gnd.
The KSDR hardware appears to be a version "1v7".
THE ISSUE WAS - WHEN I ACTIVATED THE NOISE SOURCE THE SOFTWARE CRASHED
THE CAUSE WAS THAT THE MICRO USB FOR SUPPLEMENTAL POWER TO THE KSDR was DEFECTIVE

Hello,
Thanks for hint about GPIO. I was in stuck when a powered micro USB socket just broke away
when trying to plug a supply. This method works with the JP2 jumper removed.
