Kerberos on Pi3B not found

Hello

I just received my Kerberos and created a Pi image. Started the Pi, changed the network config, Kerberos Pi is up and running. Kerberos SDR SW is running but Update rate is only showing -ms.
rtl_test -d 0 tells "No supported devices found."

I am powering the Keberos with a strong USB Power supply and the whole system is drawing about 0.3 Amps through my USB Power Analyzer, during boot process peaking to 0.45 Amps.
A strange thing. When I connect the Keberos to my USB3 Port on my W10 PC, I see 4 blue lights inside.
I don't see blue light inside without a PC, only with a USB PS powered or connected to the Pi3B.

Any suggestions?

I just checked the USB cable and another PS. There is a white light inside shining.

I don’t have my pi handy to check, but I swear I remember I had to move my usb cable around on my pi checking each port till it saw the KerberosSDr. Might have been an issue with my pi but worth a shot. Although with you saying there’s no blue light it sounds like for whatever reason there’s something up with the power. You know what you could try... plug power from your win10 computer into the ext power port of the KerberosSDr, get the blue lights on, then plug the data usb cable from the pi to the data port on the KerberosSDr. See if you see the device then in raspian.

I have just tested it with the Kerberos connected to the PIN Header, USB Power Feed by USB 3 Port from my PC.
Blue light is on, no difference on PI SW, still no Update rate.

Done a second test.
Connected the Kerberos via a USB Cable to the PI USB. Blue light on, still no Update rate.
Added also a second power source to the second USB Port on the kerberos, no difference.

I don't know what more to test...
Any further ideas?

Download the ISO mentioned. Burn it to usb with etcher or Dvd. Temporarily boot it on your windows computer and after it’s booted plug in your Kerberos data port to the computer. I’m assuming just the one cable will also power it. Then pull up a terminal and run sudo rtl_test or maybe just rtl_test and see if your laptop sees the KerberosSDr radios. That would at least rule out hardware issues, I think?

Yes that would be possible. But this way, I will run in an endless test marathon. I already tested on a PC, two different PI's, different cables and Power supplys.
I am awaiting an answer from the developers. I've done everything like supposed and it is not working.

Is any of the developers availlable or has an idea?

Best way to connect it is One supply for the Pi, one for the Kerberos, and a USB data cable between the Pi and Kerberos. Don't bother with any other ways for now.

When you run it on your Win 10 PC, does the PC see all four units?

If the Win10 PC see's them and can run them all, then to me it sounds like the Pi's USB ports aren't functioning properly. Is there another Pi you can try? Of of about 8 Pi's I tried, I did find 1 or 2 that had wonky USB ports. In those I had to try different ports until I found one that worked.

It could also just be a faulty or low quality USB data cable. Not all cables work, it has to be quality for the high data rates we're doing.

Also, just in case, double check that you actually have the DIP switches on all units set to the ON position.

Let me tell, what I've done now.
Two different Pi's a 3B and a brand new Pi4B, Brand new USB quality cable with diffenrent length, using 0.5m.


Connected Keberos to PC with W10, all 4 Tuners are shown
Using now a Pi4 with Aluminium Heat Sink, Longer GPIO connector, connected Pi and Kerberos via GPIO.
Blue LED's are on
No Update Rate shown

Disconnected Keberos from GPIO
Using a USB cable on the Micro USB close to the Switch block, connected to USB3 on Pi4
Blue LED's are on
No Update Rate shown

Added a second Micro USB Cable to an external Power Supply.
Blue LED's are on
No Update Rate shown

This is what I see on the VNC connection to the Pi and the WEB IF

It's showing all four on Linux so the hardware is okay. What's happening I think is that the power supply you're using to power the KerberosSDR isn't good enough. When they all try to turn on the power draw increases a lot up to 1.2A (rtl_test doesn't draw that much power). If it can't draw that power, it's going to fail to start.

Secondly, just wanted to check. You have the KerberosSDR plugged in to the Pi when you boot right? When the software auto loads on boot it connects to the KSDR. If it's not there, then the start processing button on the GUI isn't going to work, even if you connect the KSDR to the Pi afterwards.

If you connect the KSDR after boot you can still run the software. Just close it down, and browse to the kerberossdr folder via terminal, and use the ./run.sh command.

Can you show a photo of what your setup looks like in the standard config? Two power supplies, one for the Pi, one for the KSDR, USB data cable connected.

I tested different configurations, every time I Powered Down and Up the Pi4.

Pi4B connected to an original Pi4 3A PS
KSDR connected with its left Micro USB to the Pi4B
Tested each USB Ports 2xUSB3.0 and 2xUSB2.0
KSDR powered by a TP-Link Multi USB PS 2A each port
KSDR also connected to an Original Pi3 PS delivering 2.5A

DMESG showed me a undervoltage situation on the KSDR. So I connected every thing to the TP-Link USB PS.
KSDR connected tu the USB2.0 Port of the Pi.
Unervoltage Message is gone, but still no update rate shown.

Yessss!

I went back top my Pi3B. Both devices powered by the TP-Link PS.
And all is running fine :-)

Now I upgrade the Pi4 FW and recreate the SD card and see whats going on ...
