Dual Receive or Dual Watch

Post by iDelphic » Tue May 31, 2016 7:25 pm

Planning for my first project using the RTL-SDR and am curious to see if you can perform dual receive or dual watch with a single unit.

The premise is to be listening to AM/FM radio (or VHF/UHF) and monitor for NOAA activation.

You can only receive on two or more channels if they are all within the same ~2MHz bandwidth that you are tuned to.

Are you talking about NOAA sats, or the NOAA weather channel? If its the NOAA sats and you're okay with briefly switching freqs, then you could use Orbitron to switch to a NOAA sat frequency while its active, and then switch back to your regular frequency afterwards. Use the scheduler described here http://www.rtl-sdr.com/rtl-sdr-tutorial ... te-images/.

The other option is to use two dongles.
