What equipments must I use to send and receive signal

Hello, I am a student and I am thinking about developing a work that aims to send, receive and monitor packets from a Drone.
The drone has a telemetry kit that uses the frequency 915 Mhz.
What equipments and tools do I need to do it?
I thought about using a HackRF or BladeRF with GnuRadio.
Is it possible?

I haven't worked with sdr before, I'm new on this area.

That would be possible. If you need to send an receive at the same time, a bladeRF would be better as it is full duplex. HackRF is only half duplex meaning it can only either send or receive at one time and not simultaneously.
