G'day!
Have looked around but couldn't find any info on the subject..
So the question:
How does the sensitivity and S/N ratio performance of rtl-sdr, in the various configurations (1-tuner+rtl2832, 2-direct sampling, 3-with HF upconverter), compare with ordinary HF/VHF/UHF receivers/scanners..?
thanx

Re: Sensitivity and S/N ratio comparison..
I don't think anyones made definitive measurements compared against ordinary receivers but the best analysis of the noise figure and other RTL-SDR measurements are in this post http://www.rtl-sdr.com/measurements-on- ... odulation/.
Re: Sensitivity and S/N ratio comparison..
thanx rt-blog, I'll go to that link later..
..has any one made any empiric comparisons, i.e. side-by-side..? I can't do it yet as I'm new at this game, but intend to get up to speed soon.
The aim is to get Marine and HAM HF bands, Marine VHF and AIS (via SDR into OpenCPN) on a couple of netbooks running Linux (Mint, Ubuntu, Debian.. whatever..).
