What software to use for 100 kHz to 25 Mhz

Post by hakelm » Mon Oct 29, 2018 8:49 pm

Some time ago I purchased a SDR dongle (100KHz-1.7GHz full band UV HF RTL-SDR USB Tuner Receiver/ R820T+8232 Ham Radio) from China, see below. It looks well built and works fine between 25MHz-1,7 GHz but I am at a loss on how to get it working between 100 kHz to 30 MHz.
In the upper right part of the board I believe there is a mixer or up converter.
Does anyone know how to get this receiver to work between 100 kHz and 30 MHz?
What software should I use?
Any tip is appreciated.

That's a direct sampling retro fit board, not an upconverter. You'll need to activate Q-branch direct sampling in whatever software you're using. Same procedure as with the V3 dongle, instructions at www.rtl-sdr.com/V3.

Thanks,
I will try it out as soon as I have come to terms with gnu-radio.
