SDR without Sound card? Multiple channels in parallel?

Post by rahulmittal » Fri Oct 13, 2017 5:53 am

I need to make feasibility report for a project where multiple audio from multiple frequencies need to be recorded in parallel. Honestly, am very new to SDR. From whatever little I understand, it reads signal through HID interface and decodes audio from it.
So, my question is:

1. Recording the audio without needing to "playback" it should be possible, yeah?
2. In other words, even if a machine has no soundcard installed, recording the radio using SDR device and an accompanying software should be possible, yeah?
3. So, if I plug in 3 SDR devices on a machine and run a software which can read multiple devices and record them, it should be possible to record 3 files in parallel irrespective of the machine having one, three or no soundcards at all.

Regards
Thanks in advance for all assistance.

You can use the multi-VFO plugin for SDR# to get simultaneous audio from multiple frequencies http://www.rtl-sdr.ru/page/novyj-plagin-3.

SDR-Console also already has multi-VFO capabilities built in.

For each VFO you'll need to route the audio to a separate virtual audio cable (you can use VAC or VBCable).
