Decoding Issues

Post by MarkDinger » Wed Aug 15, 2018 4:33 pm

Hi there the problem im having is when it come to decoding the images, I can hear the Noaa Satellites and hear the coming in clearly. but when the Image comes out in to WXtoImg the image does not come out, All i get is the map overlay.
I have connected it to sdrsharp via VB Audio Cable, I have tried different setting in SdrSharp and WXtoImg but but just get the same results every time.
I hope Someone can help me I have attached a Picture of what i get

Looks like the sound isn't really coming through. Check in Windows sound properities if the volume is set correctly.

If you could upload a screenshot of your SDR# settings, I can check that too.

Thanks for getting back to me here is a screen shot of my SDRSharp settings, I had thought the same and recorded the pass in SDRSHarp and opened it in WXtoImg but had no luck.

I have never tried VB-audio, so can't help with that.

I use "Stereo Mix" instead, since that just uses the audio that you hear, which works fine as long as you don't need to decode speech from it.

In the 'File', 'Mixer Control' (In WXtoIMG) you should be able to set up the audio input to something like 'Stereo Mix' (It may have a different name, depending on your computer and sound-card, but most have an option along those lines)

I believe VB-audio is only really necessary when attempting to decode speech.

You also should set the bandwidth to 34 kHz instead of 250 kHz

Does your recording sound clean? Upload your recording and we can check to see if it sounds right.

Thanks for your advice, I think that is the problem i am having, i have been trying different settings to improve the Audio.
But i'm back at work now so don't have much time to do testing with the passes that are available.

As a .wav it's probably too big to upload here. Try a file service like mega or filedropper etc.
