Remote VLF receiver with soundcard and pc

Post by m_a_x » Mon Aug 27, 2018 6:21 pm

Hi, i have a good but obsolete Sound Blaster Audigy SB0090 24bit (PCI) and i would like to make a VLF receiver installing it on an old pc running Windows XP to receive from remote.
What is the software needed?
Will Spy Server run on XP? and will it work with a sound card?
What solution do you suggest?

Try using HDSDR to connect to your soundcard.

SDR# and SpyServer don't work on XP unfortunately.

How do i connect with HDSDR to a soundcard that is on another pc?
I am not interested in operating directly on the same pc with the soundcard.
The pc could be connected to the lan with wi-fi or could be in a different location connectefd to the internet, this is not defined yet.
The client pc of course is a modern pc running windows 7

Hmm you'd probably have to use something like TeamViewer or VNC.

Or maybe SDR-Console V3 has a server available for soundcard SDRs.

I don't know if this fits the bill, but perhaps (It's a long thread, with various updates as you read down through the posts, so do read through it all to see if it can be of any use to you)

Hi Jel, thank you for the link. I don't know if this could be the solution, it is streaming audio and in a SDR receiver we do not need the demodulated audio file but the raw data. But in this case the audio frequencies match with the radio frequencies to receive...i am a bit confused :?
Unless somebody has some informations to give be about this i will have to make a test with pc server and client side by side and the SDR sofwtare working on both to see what is the difference. Or follow some different path, in the meantime i have been told that this can be done on XP with Linrad sending the raw data to an ip address.
