rtl-sdr hear what my radio can't hear

Post by Flink » Sun Sep 23, 2018 10:05 am

Hello,

recently while scaning with rtl-sdr i was able to listen a frequency but when i try to listen it whith both my crt 4cf and my tyt th-9800 i wasn't able to hear something. I use the same antenna for rtl-sdr and the tyt. I never found dtmf/dcs function in rtl-sdr. Is it possible that rtl-sdr let me hear this frequence dispite ther is a dtmf or dcs activated? It's the only explaination that i find.

Thanks for your help

The RTL-SDR is a raw radio receiver, it won't block any frequencies. If you're radios are blocking a certain tone then the RTL-SDR will still pick it up.

What kinf of tone is blocked by my radio? I try CTCSS and DCS and i can hear so it should be another toen use by this frequency.
