I tried a long wire...it was okay for my home in the city. But i could not stretch it out as much.
I got the PA0RDT miniwhip. It was great. i mounted it in the attic with chickenwire for grounding. It got very good reception.
I finally spent $25 and made this

I am now receiving LW, MW and SW radio very clear. I Used the ebay LNA mentioned in the article. i dont have test equipment except my eyes and my ears

Congratulations on your new antenna! I'm about 35 miles away from the big antennas with line of sight but my reception is weak on a lot of channels. I did some research and came upon the Antennas Direct DB4 antenna and the horde of hobbyists that have copied the design using coat hangers. It looks cool and a lot of people seem happy with the performance. Have you ever built this antenna with success before? I'm looking to make one myself
