FM Radio reception

Post by cartoon691 » Sun Feb 10, 2019 10:35 pm

I just stumbled on to a youtube video. Samsung 9+ come with a USB c connector. I installed a RTL-SDR driver and SDRTouch. I was able walk around the house and find out FM reception was very poor. Only places I go some reception was the kitchen and front door. Glad that the dongle works. Even had amazon replace the dongle. Hope that helps other people who are having issues with RTL-SDR problems.

Did you turn up the gain? Also, reception will be highly dependent on your antenna and if you can get it outside and up high.

My Dongle always loses connection when I move around. Why? Its a NooElec NESDR Mini.
The USB soldering seems to be fine allthough and the reception is fine.

The issue is likely the antenna size, orientation, and location in your dwelling. I can make some FM stations disappear just by turning the antenna on my RTL-SDR sideways. Even with more expensive rtl_tcp work-alike SDRs, such as the Airspy HF+ or SDRPlay 2.
