Scan specified bandwidth and output detected signals

Post by jimroot » Fri Feb 22, 2019 5:14 pm

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to using SDR, using an RTL-SDR and Ubuntu.

I'm trying to find a utility that will allow me to scan a specific range of frequencies (i.e. 130 - 150 MHz) and output a csv with the bandwidths that a signal was detected as quickly as possible. The detected signals can then later be probed with other tools/methods.

I don't need to be able to listen to these signals, just know that they were detected. The closest I've gotten so far is running rtlsdr_scanner with a script that inputs the desired range, but it is pretty slow as it boots up the whole GUI each time, where as I would prefer just to have it run as a command line process.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Have a look at "rtl_power", that pretty much already does what you want.
