Wideband LNA waterproof?

Post by blinky » Thu Aug 22, 2019 12:29 pm

Hi,

I bought the kit with the RTL-SDR Blog Wideband LNA (Bias Tee Powered) and it says it should be connected as close as possible to the antena, as such can this be used outdoors or is it not waterproof?

or is it not waterproof?
Normally not if its not in a Watertide Box.
If the Cable Short 1m - 2m I would put it inside especially when you cant Maintain it during Winter and so.
In my case I could only in Summer to the Antenna so its not a Option for me.

It's not waterproof. A few splashes on the outside won't hurt it, but over time you need to be concerned with eventual water ingress and corrosion.

Usually for outdoor units people will use a watertight box with cable glands, and put things like LNAs etc inside.
