Received Audio

Post by VE3EAR » Fri Feb 21, 2020 3:34 pm

I'm curious to know what others are doing with the received audio from their SDRs. Are you simply using the built-in speaker(s) of your computers, or perhaps headphones? Personally, I found the built-in speaker lacking in fidelity
and yet I didn't want to wear my Sennheiser 'phones just for casual monitoring.

The solution was to build an amplified speaker based on a Motorola communications speaker (Mocom 70 style) and a push-pull solid state amplifier rated at 5 watts. The improvement was phenomenal, to say the least, with all the volume I'd ever need, along with nice clean, crisp, and full-range received audio.

Audio for voice from my HP Z-books isn't to bad so I havn't had the need to use external speaker. If I did I would use one of my BT speakers on battery to avoid humming from an AC loop.
