Bluetooth Classic Sniffing

Post by tylerdurden » Mon Feb 24, 2020 3:21 pm

Hi all!

Just purchased one of this cool SDR for bluetooth tests.
Iv'e searched all over the internet for simple Classic Bluetooth sniffer.
The only SDR sniffers I found so far is for BLE in ADV channels only.

Is there a reason why there is not even one example for Classic Bluetooth sniffer on SDR in the internet?

I simple want to capture all *classic* (br/edr) bluetooth packets and store them inside a pcap file.

TY so much for help!

Tyler.

Bluetooth is at 2.4 GHz, and an RTL-SDR can only receive up to 1.7 GHz. I think you'd be better off using a stanard hardware based Bluetooth dongle.

Even if you use a converter that would mix the BT-frequencies to below 1700 MHz, you would need also to be able to folloe the frequency hopping pattern of BT see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth

You need more HackRF putted together to cover the hole frequency at all.
