ADS-B S Mode Multilateration

Post by t_bigfoot » Sun May 17, 2020 2:40 pm

Would it be possible to use KerberosSDR as a standalone S Mode tracker to view the likes of military aircraft movements using TDOA without the requirement of a connection to a server like ADSBX?

I understand that ideally S Mode multilateration requires receivers to be at least 10km apart but surely it would be possible to ascertain at least a compass bearing? Perhaps even a rough estimation of distance from the signal strength and speed from doppler shift?

Or maybe I am massively oversimplifying things in my head haha? Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated :)
