27mhz direction finding

Post by zzzz » Thu Jun 04, 2020 1:21 pm

Is it realistic to use Kerberos SDR for 27mhz direction finding? Currently am using 30+yrs old watson-watt equipment and looking for inexpensive replacement. Using it on 40ft boat so the size of antenna and spacing would be the issue at least I guess...

Antenna spacing is going to be the major issue. When you start to go below ~50 MHz other methods tend to become more practical.

But if you're able to get decent spacing, and gather data from multiple locations, it should average out the innaccuracies from not having a full sized array.

Thank you very much for your comment. I hope someone will come up with SDR based watson-watt application for HF bands. Commercial products are prohibitively expensive...
