Local EMS/Police P25 Decoding

Post by drew » Tue Aug 11, 2020 3:06 pm

Hello all! I am new to SDR but I am enjoying it so far. This is probably a stupid thing to be asking about, but I am at my wits end... Please forgive me.

I have two of the RTL-SDR Blog V3 dongles and I can pick up analog audio fine. However, I am having trouble with the P25 channels. I have followed a few guides but I always get stuck at one spot.. I know the frequencies they are broadcasting on but I don't know the control channel frequency.. I have scoured the web and cannot find it anywhere. Is there a way I can still decode it or do I need the control channel frequency?

THANK YOU!

I usually go to RadioReference.com and lookup the town or county, They will have the control frequency and 4 to 5 others
listed. I will put the middle frequency in and look for others close by. I guessing you are using V Cable and DSD+ software
also make sure your audio filters are turned off on the SDR#, 12.5 khz bandwidth and agc set to off works for me
