Are these valid RTL-SDR products ?

Post by hrtk » Tue Oct 27, 2020 8:35 pm

Hi

I'm completely new to SDR. I wanted an RTL SDR but am unable to buy one from the original store as they won't deliver to my country. The local resellers are selling at 200% which is way more than my budget.

I wanted to know if the products listed below are valid RTL SDR products (as they seem to claim) or are comparable to it.

I do not know these.
But you are on the site of the well-known RTL V3 https://www.rtl-sdr.com/buy-rtl-sdr-dvb-t-dongles/

Anyone can manufacture an RTL-SDR, we just have a bunch of people cloning our specific design and/or brand, presumably because ours is the best design out there since we did put a lot of research into it :)

NooElec is another reputable brand and they have decent designs, but I wouldn't bother with their plastic case models as those are mostly just the old generic design rebranded. Also generally the R820T2 based models are preferred over the "XTR" E4000 based models unless you have a specific reason for them.
