Instability of SDR# using windows 10 64 bit

I have used SDR# for some years now, but on getting my new RTL unit going I found that the program was extremely unstable. Simply switching the up converter in for example would crash SDR# and it is often necessary to unplug the USB cable and reconnect it to get it working again. When working it is fine, but this inability to rely on the software not crashing is getting my goat! Any suggestions?

Seeing your comment with more information on another thread, do you not even look at the Airspy group?
This has been discussed and cured.
