New SDR# Plugin: File Player

A new plugin for SDR# has been released by Vasilli over on rtl-sdr.ru. The new plugin is called File Player and replaces the default SDR# IQ file source player (page is in Russian, use Google translate if necessary). The new features include:

  • The ability to play 32-bit WAV files up to 4GB.
  • The ability to play very large 64-bit WAV files.
  • Adds a new display that shows a compressed image of the entire waterfall and shows where in time the playback is up to.
  • Allows you to modify the waterfall play time position with the mouse.
  • Adds a stop and pause button.

Note that to install this plugin you do not add the magicline to the plugins.xml file. Instead you need to add it to the <frontendPlugins> section of the SDRSharp.exe.Config text file.

I followed these instructions and it works. However during playback the frequency display is replaced with a gradient type display centered on zero with minus offset scales to the left and positive offset scales to the right. Does not make sense and basically makes this plugin worthless. What am I doing wrong ?

    Stupid limited comment text format…
To get this plugin working I added in the line to Frontends.xml as noted in MagicLine.txt in plugin .zip

I then renamed a .wav file to test.wav in SDR sharp directory.
    And then edited “SDRSharp.exe.Config”

    Line:
    add key=”FilePlayerLastFileName” value=””
    changed to:
    add key=”FilePlayerLastFileName” value=”test.wav”

This fixed the error when first switching to this plugin.

I copy and pasted the magicline into the file and then copy and pasted the .dll file into the same folder as the SDRSharp.exe file. When I open SDRSharp and select “File Player” from the Source drop down menu I get an error that says, “Empty Path name is not legal” and then “The source ‘SDRSharp.WAVPlayer.WAVFileIO’ is not ready”.

Did I not install this correctly? Is there a workaround? What should happen when I select File Player from the Source drop down menu? I assumed an explorer window would open and I would choose the file I would like to open.

I am having a similar issue. I copied the Magic Line to FrontEnds.xml and the rest of the files to the SDR# folder. When I select “File Player” as the source it states “Empty path name is not legal.” I do not get the second error that you are seeing though. I am running SDR# v1.0.0.1700

    Hello

i’m trying to get File Player working with my SDR# v1.0.0.1444, but there’s no way to succeed. I both used Pluginator and manual install but the plugin is not seen in any way. This happens to me only with this plugin.
Can you help me out ?
    thanks

    Maurizio
