SDRSharp Guide V3.0 Released

Paolo Romani (IZ1MLL) has recently released version 3.0 of his SDRSharp PDF Guide which we posted about last in March of this year. As before the document is a detailed guide about how to use SDRSharp, which is the software provided by Airspy. While intended for Airspy devices, SDRSharp also supports a number of third party SDRs, including the RTL-SDR, and it is the software we recommend starting with when using an RTL-SDR.

The guide is now 61 pages long, and covers all the settings, UI customization, included and third party plugins, and use of some external decoders.

Is it just me or is SDR# just the laggiest piece of crap. It seemed OK a couple years ago (I am still using a 2019 version now and then) but more recent versions are so laggy that it really isn’t worth my time. Or maybe I need a high end gaming PC to run it? I don’t get it. I like the plugin functionality but the overall performance of this program is unacceptable on any of my PC’s, even my core i7.

I will just say that I have no problems with SDR# (latest version). No lagging at all. I use a 2017 iMac i5, nothing special. I too like the plug-ins — lots of useful ones, and some worthless ones. I have about five different SDR programs that I use for different purposes (no performance problems with any of them) and prefer SDR# when I want a certain plugin or just want a straightforward UI without bells-and-whistles that I don’t need for the particular thing I’m doing, such as FM broadcast. I really like SDRuno for the RSP1a features, even though HDSDR works with it (SDR# does not). I also like SDR# for L-Band satellite stuff. Just as suggestion, in SDR# you could try lowering your sampling rate and see if it reduces the lagging. Best wishes, Al WA4GKQ
