Weather Satellite Meteor M2-2 Now Transmitting Images
Reports from Reddit and Twitter are in that the recently launched Meteor M2-2 weather satellite is now functional and broadcasting images at 137.9 MHz. A few people have noted that the reception quality appears to be better than the older satellite.

Thank you to Happysat whose also provided the following information that can be used to receive the images. It appears that a slightly modified version of LRPTDecoder is required:
This version of LRPTDecoder was used to test/debug OQPSK with Meteor M-N2-1 in 2014, it will work on Meteor M-N2-2.
The ini file attached in the archive is processed manually from s files.
Buttons 72K and 80K respectively for the modes “without interleaving” and “with interleaving”.
Also in the archive there are examples for other modes.Transmissions on LRPT with a OQPSK Modulation are expected tomorrow on most probably 137.900MHz.
Make sure you have version 1.9 of the Meteor QPSK Plugin running in SDRSharp.

I have recorded N2-2 transmission as WAV, is there a way to offline decode it without sdr# plugins? I used LrptRx.exe to generate raw files for LRPT decoder.
Ok, just found out I could playback WAV recording in sdr#, so I used the meteor demodulator plugin. Thanks
I hear that the Meteor Sats have better weather photos than NOAA Sats is this true……
Does anybody know if I could decode LRPT images from new Meteor with the help of glrpt? Seems like it’s already know about Meteor-M2-2 satellite according to the labels inside program… Also I’ve noticed that starting from today I don’t able to receive any signal from Meteor-M2: neither on 137.9 nor 137.1 MHz
Inside s_file,.bat is just a move command to move the s-files from e.g. M-N2-2 to another folder:
move D:\SDR\Meteor\S_file\* D:\SDR\Meteor\S_file\M22
AMIGOS was used as a folder name on the older versions of LRPT-Decoder, you can change to whatever you want to.
The scheduler config other sat’s are just like NOAA and Meteor similar commands to start and keep track of the freq.

Would love to know what other routines you have set up like the ISS example you posted! (I’ve gotten stuff configured for NOAA 18/19, Meteor M2 & M2-2).
BTW: right now, 22/07/19 19h09 UTC, M2 is passing here (Brazil) and transmiting at 137.100Mhz, not 137.900.
Unfortunately, realtime decoding doesn’t work with new sat, even with sat=2.1 in .ini file 🙁
offline lrpt decoder works fine. Is this right or am I making something wrong?
I did make a new howto, many things did change since 2014 :p : http://happysat.nl/Setup_Meteor/Setup.html

Thanks for posting Admin 🙂
One small side note, this newer version of LRTP-Decoder distinguish both Meteor’s with a new entry in the ini config file: sat=M2.1.
For people using MeteorGIS, it does auto generate a ini file without this needed entry.
Author of MeteorGIS will update his program soon.
So for now Meteor M-N2-2 better use the “old way” in DDE-Tracker scheduler:
start_programm_Path and point the batch file to LRPTDecoder.exe
MeteorGIS can manually started in offline mode but it will only process Treated-UTM images and exit with error after that..
Thanks for this amazing HowTO ! It helps really to understand the process.
I have just two questions 🙂
Can you share somewhere or explain what is inside the file “s_file.bat” used for LOS entry config, as on the how to you start first to configure with LRPT decoder than jump directly on Amigos.
And can you upload a complete config for all sat for DDE scheduler ( i saw you have more SAT and i would like to test , for sure some must be useless, just for my understanding ).
Thanks for this !!
