OnAir: A Digital TV and DAB Decoder for SDRs
Thank you to Kristijonas for writing in and sharing with us his project, OnAir. OnAir is an easy-to-use digital TV decoder for DVB-T2, DVB-T, ATSC 1.0, ATSC 3.0, ISDB-T, and a digital audio decoder for DAB / DAB+ and FM Radio. It also supports Analog TV modes such as PAL, SECAM, and NTSC, and data modes like ADS-B, GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou), and DMR.
It supports various wideband SDRs, including HackRF, PlutoSDR, BladeRF, LimeSDR, USRP, Airspy R2, and SDRplay. RTL-SDRs unfortunately do not have enough bandwidth to decode digital TV channels in SDR mode, but the software still supports RTL-SDRs for narrowband signals.
The software is easy to install, with an installer .exe being available for Windows, a .deb file for Debian Linux, and a .dmg file for macOS.Â

DVB-T or T2 PLUTO try local FREE channels, 500 meter near TV tower. Autoscan tells are 2 channels active but nothing oud of it. No station numbers or name in the window. DAB seem working OK, FM radio = OK DVB-T or T2 is NO
Hey, if you checked out the repo, you can see that for Pluto sdr it shows for wide tv channels that it isn’t supported or has not yet been confirmed.
Working well with ADSB + maps and some channels on TV=T2 Australia. Tried restart a couple of times and used auto tune {gain} with ADSB. radio=SDRplay1B…antenna=vhf dipole, Just a quick test.
complete rubbish with dvb-t. It has a 20+db SNR and still says quality 0% and won’t decode anything further than pilot signals.
Looked good but sadly extremely unfinished and non-functional, like many of these AI programmed/vibecoded things on this website.
I agree that the (RTL-)SDR space is becoming full of AI slop. It is really sad that so many new posts are about software that literally do nothing new.
But I actually like this software. I don’t know how much of it has been vibe coded but it’s actually pretty useful. It is still buggy but with a Pluto+ and MacOS I could decode DVB-T just fine. Also GNSS seemed to work (I managed to get a lock with a passive antenna) and DAB+ as well.
